____罗浩鑫

Bible Foundation Course for Students in Winter Vacation

On December 26-29, 2022, Mount Zion House Church organized Bible foundation training for nine students (college and high school). The seven lessons include Salvation, Baptism in Water and the Holy Spirit, Prayer, The Church, Marriage, Family and Children, Tithing, Offering and Giving, and The Day of Rest. Four college students are responsible for the study and discussion of different courses. Students’ reflections are as follows:

——Coco

During these seven courses, I learned about themes on redemption, baptism, prayer, church, marriage and rest. I felt very benefited. The lessons of redemption made me realize that my sins are deep, but more of God’s great love, the Holy God is willing to send His only begotten Son to the world. Jesus, the Christ, is willing to humble Himself as a servant, just to be able to save us from the darkness and enter the kingdom of God of light. Comparing to His great love, sometimes we can’t even love our family members and friends, and we are unwilling to sacrifice ourselves for the sake of our neighbors, and we are even unwilling to let go of our self-esteem, pride and selfish desires. This made me appreciate the vastness and depth of Christ’s love even more. I want to pray that God would give me a heart of love from Him.

Christ came to the world and also brought the most precious gift to people, that is His Spirit - the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the foundation of our rebirth and salvation, and the bridge for us to communicate with God. God bestows the Holy Spirit to guide us along the path we should walk. Every person created by God is unique. He also wants the saints to communicate with each other, to be the same, and to encourage each other to pray.

I also learned how to pray with one accord, that is, to keep coming before the living God, with a sincere and pious heart to pour out to God. What we should ask is also what God pleases us to ask, and we should not ask for it with exaltation. Pray for your own mood. Of course, God also promises us that the prayers of His will, He will surely accomplish them, but God also has His time and will. In addition, never complain to our Lord, for what happens is what He allows, including hardships and tribulations. I thank God for being willing to give us afflictions and build us to become His soldiers. Because in places we cannot see, there is always a battle. We are fighting against Satan and evil spirits. We must build ourselves to fight for God and kill the enemy bravely.

At the same time, God has given us different roles, as wives and husbands, as children, and in the church. No matter where we are, we should obey God’s words, manage the family well, and obey the authority of our parents. Be good stewards over their children and their inheritance from God. Finally, we should learn to rest. While studying hard and working hard, we must understand that we need a time to get close to God, to be alone with God. We need to ask Him to give us wisdom in life, and come before God on Sundays, with a baptized heart. Worship and praise Him.

Thank God for leading me to study these lessons, so that I can realize more about how loving, authoritative, healing, and wise He is.

——Katherine

How can Christians call each other brothers and sisters without believing the same truth? This short-term bible study brought students together to study the foundation lessons of Christianity. During these few days, I was reminded of my identity. Not only that I am a daughter of God, but also that I am a part of the church; we all have different roles and ways to serve. If a brother or sister weighs heavily on my heart, I should pray for that individual consistently.

——Jay

The most important thing I should reflect on in this Bible study is some of the flaws in my entire Bible study, although I have been a believer for five or six years. But this time I was allowed to preach on my own, and I really realized that there are a lot of gaps in my Bible study that I don’t understand. I was not familiar with the whole Bible, not even the table of contents. So much so that it was difficult to quickly locate the verses in a Bible study. There is also a lot of basic common sense that is not known. It is like when we were studying the book of James in our Bible study, we were studying the book of James. But I misunderstood it as the contents of the book of Song of Songs, so that I made a joke.

So, in the new year, I think I should study more of God’s word, even though there are a lot of things to do in school. But I still must make time to study the Bible. Study the Word of God. Only then can I gain a lot of wisdom. In addition, I learned a lot from this study. The most profitable thing for me is that it has brought me closer in my relationship with God, and it is important to worship correctly, think correctly, and have a spiritual life. I also got to know a lot of people in this class and have more spiritual friends.

——David Sun

Through the Bible knowledge I learned today, I learned a lot. For example, you must learn to dedicate yourself to God, and God will give you good returns. For example, we will follow God’s rules and cleanse our own spiritual filth. I feel benefited a lot.

On a Sunday in March 2022, our whole family was at church to worship. I suddenly had severe stomach pain, I thought it was gastrointestinal discomfort and went to the bathroom. While I was in the bathroom, I was in so much pain that my whole body broke out in a cold sweat. At the time I was experiencing all this pain I heard a voice say to me: "You have to go out, if there is something wrong no one knows!" Still in severe pain I walked out of the bathroom went to my husband and told him I was unwell. We were about to go home to rest, but as we walked to the door I fainted.

At this moment, Pastor Byron was preaching, he knew that I had fainted, stopped preaching, and the brothers and sisters of the church prayed for me. After a few minutes, while they cried out to the Lord for me, I woke up and saw a crowd of people cheering around me and I realized that I had just fainted. Thank you, God! He hears prayers of his children! I would also like to thank my brothers and sisters for praying for me! I felt the love of heaven and the love of my brothers and sisters!

Later, some brothers and sisters accompanied me to urgent care next to the church to check my blood pressure. My blood pressure was very low, even though I originally had symptoms of high blood pressure. I believe God reminded me to pay attention to my body, and from that day I began to pay more attention to my health. Trying to go to bed early to get enough sleep and eat a healthy diet. When I went to the hospital in October for a check-up, the doctor said that everything was normal, it was all God's grace! And if I hadn't experienced this fainting incident, I would have thought I was strong. God loves us so much and He is always by our side, reminding us that we must love ourselves first and take care of our health, so that we can better take care of our families and brothers and sisters. I encourage all my brothers and sisters to cherish the healthy body God has given us, so that we can do more for God's kingdom. Give all glory to God! Amen

Lily

I was born in the 1960s and lived through China's darkest era as a child, the Cultural Revolution and the brutal class struggle. I've seen people betray each other, fight each other, distrust each other, let alone love each other. We didn't know what love was, nor had we heard anyone talk about love.

In 1993 my wife accepted the Lord and invited me to church. I reluctantly went with her to the church to avoid dishonoring her. I remember the title of the sermon was "God's Love." He quoted 1 Corinthians 13, talking about what was God's love. It was beyond the reach of man. I was immediately drawn to these verses, and then the pastor shared John 3:16 about God's unconditional love for the world. I was taught that there's no such thing as gratuitous love and that all love is conditional. I was fascinated by God's unconditional love. I wanted that beautiful unconditional love so much.

When the pastor finished his sermon, he asked, "Who will accept Jesus Christ as his personal Savior?" I raised my hand and said, "I do." I longed for this kind of love, to be with God, to experience the life of God's love. From then on, I became a Christian, until now. After twenty-nine years, I have always felt His love, and I am constantly changing in His love. It is through God's love that I can love others.
